Expertise For The People
After working for big plumbing companies for several years and seeing them not treating their customers as good as he would like to be treated, A&D founder, Don Dugal decided to go into business for himself in 2013 to make sure the fine people in Katy and surrounding areas could find someone who would do the job right and treat them with dignity and respect. A&D professionals have more than 15 years of experience serving the great people in the Houston area.
Don served this country in the military and has the utmost respect for others that protect and serve, as well. A&D is proud to offer discounts to widows, active military and veterans, and first-responders that serve our communities as law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do typical leaks occur?
10% of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons of water per day or more.
These leaks happen in pipes, pipe connections, shower heads, toilets, faucets, and more.
What do I do if I find a leak?
Turn your water off at the main valve and call us immediately. The main valve is typically located on the water meter side of the house. Look for a riser on the outside. If you do not see it there, then look inside a closet on the meter side of the home, as that is where many newer home builders are placing it.
Why does my drain get clogged?
There are many reasons why drains back up. If in the kitchen, there could be a problem with grease accumulation or an improperly functioning garbage disposal. Other drains, like in the bathroom, become clogged because of hair loss, waste residue from haircare or personal hygiene products. Enzyme treatments can be used as preventative measures, and are recommended semi-annually.
What plumbing tools should I keep at home?
Channel locks, screw drivers and a plunger. Plungers can help unclog toilets, showers, and sinks. Channel locks and screw drivers will help tighten or loosen threaded pipes, nuts, fittings, and clamps.
What is a p-trap?
The p-trap is the pipe bend below a sink to eliminate sewer gasses from exiting into the home.
What causes low water pressure?
Many times the main water valve into the home is not fully open. Check this and the other valves in the home to ensure they are fully open. If your home is fitted with galvanize piping, then there is likely build up in the pipes, and a full re-pipe is suggested. Otherwise, there could be a mineral or scale build-up in the fixtures or valves. When this occurs, call us, as professional service is suggested.
Why does my toilet keep running?
There is one or more parts in the tank that are failing. The most common is the flapper at the bottom of the tank is no longer sealing properly. If you need to jiggle the handle in order to get the toilet to stop running, then this is likely the issue. If that is working properly, then check the fill valve connected to the water supply.
Why are noises coming from my water heater?
Most noises coming from water heaters are due to mineral build up at the bottom of the tank that is heating up. Manufacturers typically recommended that you flush your water heater once per year. Otherwise, the minerals that settle will mix back into the water and create hard water situations.
Why do we run out of hot water so quickly?
Depending on the age and type of water heater, there are a couple of reasons:
- Your water heater is nearing the end of its service life
- The control valve needs to be replaced as the temperature control unit is not functioning properly
If you are running out of hot water more quickly than expected, give us a call and we’ll get you back to hot water fast.
What is the difference between hard water and soft?
The water supply has minerals in it. Hard water contains many minerals that can cause damage to your plumbing and fixtures, as it accumulates in your fixtures, deteriorates faucets and fixtures, causes skin problems or undesirable taste and odor in your water, as well as leaves spots on your dishes and shower glass.
What can I put down my garbage disposal?
When putting anything down the garbage disposal, make sure to run water to help break down the food. Make sure to turn on the disposal before putting the waste down it. We highly suggest avoiding potato peelings, carrot and similar vegetable peelings, rice, fat and grease, as these will clog pipes. Hard material, such as bones and coffee grounds will dull the blades.
